Manoomin (Wild Rice)

Manoomin (Wild Rice)

The Ojibwe people were spread across a vast area but were connected by the lakes. They moved westward along the Great Lakes.

A prophecy said they would find “the land where food grows on water.” This food was called manoomin or wild rice. Manoomin is harvested to this day.
